The basketball and handball matches of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games were successfully organized in Lille. Let’s not kid ourselves, it was juste a repetition for a global event awaited by all pilots:
THE Fournier 2024 gathering.
The world has therefore mandated the CFI to organize this edition halfway between Brussels and Paris, in Lille in honor of René Fournier.
Our CIO (Chiefs International Organisers) Daniel THIELEMANS, Joost LEGASSE and Michel LEBLANC therefore worked together to offer everyone a magnificent program of meetings, visits, and aerial tour on the weekend of
September Friday 6th to Sunday 8th 2024
at the Lille – Marcq-en-Barœul airfield (LFQO). You will find all the details below.
Come in large numbers to share these moments together with René.
The place to be :
Almost on the Franco-Belgian border, the Lille – Marcq-en-Barœul airfield was chosen for its many qualities: ideal location, easy road and rail access, very close tourist places, refuelling, restaurants and hotel on site, camping and not to mention the atmosphere and hospitality of the people of the North.

To facilitate the transport of people with mobility difficulties, CFI has rented a minibus to allow local transport to restaurants, hotels, bus stops, etc

Visit of the city of LILLE.
It is possible to participate in a free tour of the city of LILLE and its picturesque districts, old town on Saturday, September 7.
The departure would be from the bus stop «Parc de l’aérodrome (Bondues) » beneath the airfield by taking line L91 or 86 (cf paragraph. “Public transit arrivals (BUS ) ” at the end of this document.
It takes about twenty minutes without changing buses to get to the heart of Lille at LILLE FLANDRES station

Pilots Informations
Arrival and airplanes park.
Located north of the CTR of LILLE SECLIN airport The aerodrome has a substantial activity of aircraft, aerobatics, ultralights, gliders and parachutists. Take care of your approach and listen to frequency 122,005, then follow the Procedures and Special Instructions in the VAC map below
In case of parachutist activity, do not perform vertical terrain..
The aerobatics axes are located on the west of the field. To listen and monitor.
Depending on the air traffic at the time, the location of the Fournier parking will be decided by the local aero club.
When arriving, observe the already parked aircraft and do not encroach on taxiways.
And don’t forget to check your documentation and charts, those included in this document are only indicative.
Air cruise from Lille to Brashaat.
A circular flight is planned and organized by Daniel THIELEMANS and Joost LEGASSE from Lille on Saturday, September 7 in the morning. It will follow the French, Belgian and Dutch coasts of the Channel then turning right in the estuary of the Escaut towards Antwerp for a landing on the platform of Brashaat followed by a direct return by the land to Lille.
For logistical reasons, the number of aircraft participating in the project will be limited to 15.
An imperative briefing will be held before departure at 8:00 AM for
• compose the 3 aircraft teams
• Specify the round trip depending on the weather at the time.
• show the special and forbidden zones with 2 nuclear power plants on the seafront in Gravelines in France and Doel in Belgium.
• Send flight plans as the route crosses the French and then the Belgian and Dutch borders.
Scheduled take-off at approximately 10:30 AM in 3 formations.
Lunch will be taken on site at the new Club house of Brashaat
The return to Lille is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Participants are asked to be present in Lille already on Friday, September 6, 2024 in the evening to refine the trip.
